On weekends you can find him cycling, listening to live music, and cheering for both the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Football Club.
Dr Jay Darji
Dr. Jay Darji knew he wanted to be a pediatric dentist from a young age. His inspiration lies in the ability to provide treatment and educate patients in a field that he struggled with as a child. A true Charlottean, Dr. Jay began his journey as a dental assistant at Charlotte Pediatric Dentistry. After graduating from East Carolina School of Dentistry, Dr. Jay knew he wanted to return home to Charlotte, NC, and take care of his community like they took care of him. When asked what he enjoys most about being a pediatric dentist, Dr. Jay stated: “Being able to work with patients from day one and seeing transformations in oral health while creating a confident smile”.
Dr. Crystal Hayes
Dr. Hayes is passionate about pediatric dentistry because it allows her to make a positive impact on children’s health and confidence. She loves helping children develop healthy habits, overcome fears, and build lifelong trust with dental care. When asked to describe her passion for pediatric dentistry, Dr. Hayes responded, “As a pediatric dentist, I see myself as that champion—someone who not only cares for a child’s oral health but also builds trust, eases fears, and creates positive experiences that shape their lifelong well-being.”
Growing up in Wilmington, Dr. Hayes dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. However, her passion for working with children led her to pediatric dentistry. When she's not working, Dr. Hayes enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, and spending time with her two daughters and family. Returning to her hometown has made these moments even more special as she shares them with those she loves.

Dr. Taurus Farrow discovered his passion for pediatric dentistry after shadowing several accomplished pediatric dentists who inspired him to follow in their footsteps. He is dedicated to creating positive, comfortable dental experiences for children, especially those who may feel nervous or unsure. His favorite part of the profession is helping a child in need and ensuring that every appointment ends with confidence and a smile. Reflecting on what drives him, Dr. Farrow shares the words that guide his approach: “Be a helping hand to the person in need when they are facing great difficulty and hardship.”
Growing up, Dr. Farrow dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player. If life had taken him in a different direction, he could also see himself serving in the Armed Forces. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys trying new foods, cheering for the Carolina Panthers, and practicing his Christian faith. He is also a proud dog dad to his beloved French Bulldog, Gizmo, whom he fondly calls “the best in the world.”
At Lume Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, Dr. Farrow combines his faith, compassion, and energy to deliver care that helps children establish healthy habits, overcome fears, and develop a lifelong trust in their dental health.
